Paneer Pakora is a popular Indian Snack made from paneer and spiced chickpea flour (besan) batter and then deep-fried until crispy and golden. This recipe is a perfect appetizer or tea-time snack, especially during monsoons. Paneer Pakora has a crispy outer coating and moist, soft paneer within.
Ingredients
Paneer cubes
1 cup Besan
1/2 teaspoon Carom seeds
a pinch of asafoetida
1 pinch turmeric powder
1 pinch red chili powder
1 pinch garam masala
Salt as required
Water as required
Oil for deep frying
Chaat Masala for sprinkling
Instructions
- Cut paneer into cubes or square.
- Take 1 cup besan in a mixing bowl and then add the following spices:
- 1/2 teaspoon carom seeds
- 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
- 1 pinch red chili powder
- 1 to 2 pinches garam masala
- 1 pinch red chili powder
- salt as required
- Mix everything well and pour 2/3 to 3/4 cup of water in parts.
- Make a thick flowing smooth batter without any lumps in it.
- Now dip the paneer cubes into the batter and coat them well.
- In a kadai, heat oil for deep frying pakora. When the oil become medium hot gently add the batter coated paneer cubes in it.
- Deep fry pakora on medium or medium-high heat.
- When one side is light golden, then turn over paneer pakora and continue to fry the other side.
- Flip paneer pakora a couple of times for even frying. When pakora looks crisp and golden from both sides then remove it.
- Place the paneer pakora on paper towels so that extra oil is soaked.
- Sprinkle chaat masala on paneer pakora as it brings a lot of flavor and taste.
- Serve paneer pakora with coriander chutney, tomato ketchup or dip of your own choice.
