Bread Masala is a popular Indian snack or breakfast dish made with bread slices tossed in a spicy and flavorful masala mixture. It is quick to prepare and usually involves ingredients like onions, tomatoes and basic spices.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
1 green chili chopped
1 medium onion
2 medium tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon Pav Bhaji Masala
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt as required
5 to 6 bread slices
Coriander leaves
Lemon wedges
Instructions
- Cut 5 to 6 bread slices into small cubes. Keep aside.
- Chop 1 onion, 2 medium tomatoes and 1 green chili finely.
- In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons oil and add 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste. You can also use butter instead of oil.
- Sauté for some seconds till the raw aroma goes away.
- Now, add 1/3 cup chopped onions. Stir and sauté onions till translucent.
- Now, add the spices- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder and 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder. Keep the flame low while adding spices.
- Now, add 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes and chopped green chili.
- Mix well and add salt as per taste.
- Sauté tomatoes till they become mushy and soft. Then add 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves and mix again.
- Add the bread cubes and mix everything well. Sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve Masala Bread and drizzle some lemon juice on top while serving. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
