Matar Mushroom is a standout when it comes to comfort food that is both healthy and flavourful. This delicious vegetarian curry mixes mushrooms’ earthy richness with the sweet softness of green peas(matar), all wrapped up in spicy-tomato gravy. Let’s get started.
Ingredients
- Mushrooms – 200 grams, chopped
- Green Peas – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 medium-sized, chopped
- 1 Green Chilli
- Ginger-Gralic Paste – 1 teaspoon
- Tomatoes – 3 medium-sized, finely chopped
- Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander Powder – 1 teaspoon
- Oil – Approx. 2-3 tabelspoon
- Salt – to taste
- Garam Masala – 1/2 teaspoon
- 2 cups of Water
Instructions
- In a kadai or a large pan, eat 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil.
- Add finely chopped onion (1 medium-sized) to the oil. Cook, stirring often, until the onion becomes translucent.
- Add 1 teaspoon of Ginger-Garlic paste. Sauté for a few seconds or till the raw aroma disappears.
- Add 3 medium-sized finely chopped tomatoes and 1 Green Chilli.
- Stir and Mix. Then add the following spices:
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- Sauté till oil starts to leave from the sides of the masala mixture.
- Add chopped mushrooms and green peas. Mix everything well and stir.
- Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Then add 2 cups of water and salt as per taste. Cover the pan with lid and cook till the peas are softened.
- Once done, sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder.
- Stir and serve matar mushroom sabji hot with rotis, naan, parathas, or chapatis.
